Aliens: Colonial Marines Extended CG Trailer Borrows From Clint Mansell

Clint Mansell's suite to the indie flick Moon is a timeless wonder. It's a bit of a thought provoking piece that relies on attention to story and atmosphere rather than action and explosions. So it's an interesting mix hearing Mansell's theme song from the movie Moon fused with Gearbox Software's upcoming first-person shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines.
The CG trailer starts and ends with acid, which plays as a constant visual element in the trailer below. It's not really an award winning trailer and the use of the music could have been played up to the game's atmosphere and creep factor, but they decided to go all out, showcasing the layered deconstruction of the marines as they make contact with the aliens and begin to see the error of their ways.
Around this time last year we had Koch Media's Dead Island CG trailer debuting with an equally haunting piano score playing in the background as it told, in reverse, the story of a little girl turned into a zombie and infecting and killing her parents before meeting a rather gruesome death by splattering to the ground from out of a high-rise.
While the above trailer doesn't evoke any of the same emotions or interest as the Dead Island trailer, I think it's slick enough that gamers will remember it just long enough for February 12th to roll around.
If you're looking to see what happened between Cameron's Aliens and Fincher's Alien 3, then the canonized Colonial Marines will be your ticket into understanding-ville. You can pre-order the game right now for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U or PC or learn more by visiting the Official Website.
