As promised, CCP's DUST 514 has officially arrived exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The game is now out and available to anyone interested in playing the first-person shooter tie-in to CCP's other well-respected MMO commerce game, EVE Online.

DUST 514 will allow players to take to the ground and affect the outcome of other corporations in EVE Online. There will be a lot of cohesive cross-over storytelling elements and content to keep gamers coming back for more...hopefully in ways that M.A.G failed to capitalize on.

CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson dropped some comments about the launch of the console-exclusive MMOFPS, saying...
“DUST 514 has been forged by the willpower and skills of the players who have joined us on the journey to launch, and the talent and determination of our development teams around the world,” ...“We are now poised for the next phase of development of DUST 514 and the EVE Universe. We are off to a fantastic start, and ahead is the opportunity to expand even further what games can become. After a decade of preparing for this moment, we will at last see the emerging society of DUST players begin to fight gun-and-grenade for planetary dominance, alongside their EVE Online brethren. For all we have done so far, our best moments are yet to come.”

The game allows players nearly limitless customization options as CCP will continue to roll out new content, gear, armor and weapons as the company tries to cement both a community and a foundation for established growth into the newly released title.

For a while, many gamers thought DUST 514 would be vaporware, especially given that the game disappeared off the radar for quite some time and it was difficult to tell if CCP and Sony had kind of wasted a lot of time and money into something that could never materialize. But lo and behold, with the game now available for the PlayStation 3, I guess they proved all the naysayers wrong, eh?
