It's a very light week for brand new games on the PlayStation Network but, given how packed the first quarter of 2013 has been, I think we can forgive only having a few titles to blow our money on from time to time. This week's game to watch is Defiance, the third-person shooter MMO from Trion Worlds.

Now that we've all battled necromorphs in Dead Space 3, fought demons in DmC, killed a lot of wildlife in Tomb Raiser, took on the Furies in God of War and explored Columbia in BioShock Infinite, it's nice to have a cooldown period before the next mega-batch of humongous titles comes barreling down the pipeline.

Of course, for a lot of players who enjoyed the recent beta, this week's release of TV show tie-ing game, Defiance, makes this a pretty dang big week to get excited for, too. In Defiance, players take on the role of Ark Hunters, mercenary soldiers searching the semi-alien wasteland of San Francisco for helpful technology, all while battling massive bugs and deranged mutants. An MMO, Defiance lets players team up and take on the massive world together, or duke it out against one another in the expected match types for competitive play.

With Defiance being the only full retail game hitting the PlayStation Network update this week, the online shooter is being joined by space shooter Ion Assault HD as a PSN title, and the PlayStation 2 Classics, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. You can read all about those last two releases here.

Other than a demo for Terraria and upcoming fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us, that about wraps it up for this week's new game releases on PSN. Expect to see those titles, along with the usual batch of videos and DLC, to be available once the PlayStation Network updates sometime Tuesday afternoon.
