Gamers have been complaining about the hackers in Battlefield 3 since it launched. Well, EA and DICE have heard your cries and are doing what they can to absolve the problem, which includes banning the accounts of hackers, boosters and exploiters.
According to a Tweet from EA, “This week we’ve banned hundreds of offending accounts and have stats-wiped accounts for exploiting (such as boosting)... (2 of More)”.
That’s some good news. Hopefully they also do something about hacking sites promoting the exploitation of game mechanics such as FPS Cheats, where disgusting displays of blatant hacking is promoted and sold to members. Hacking has been a pretty bad plague to many online games, especially competitive first-person shooters.
Hopefully the ban-hammer will stay active in the EA camp as they dwindle down on the hackers in the game and focus on maintaining security of Battlefield 3. It’s easy to pop up and toss out a comment or two about hack prevention or banning players using nefarious means to achieve victory, but beyond the PR gamers are expecting the money they tossed into Battlefield 3 not to feel like a waste because of hackers.
