Final Fantasy Versus XIII Gunplay, Swordplay And Vehicles Trailer

All right, Square Enix has officially impressed me with Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The game isn’t just a hubbub of Japanese pop-culture meets pseudo realtime FF XIII gameplay…it’s actually a real game with a very dynamic new combat engine. Square released a lengthy six minute trailer featuring cinematics, gunplay, swordplay, vehicles and a lot of diverse gameplay.

Magic still plays a big part in the combat, but it’s now entirely in realtime like a standard action-RPG (welcome to the 21st century Square) and the gunplay is over-the-shoulder style, similar to Capcom’s new take on Resident Evil. The vehicle gameplay was sparse in the trailer but it looks like there are segments involving a lot of stationary turret weapons as well as rail-segments. The game is now like a mix of Devil May Cry meets Monster Hunter meets Final Fantasy Dissidia...and there's nothing wrong with that.

You can check out the lengthy trailer below, which starts off a little slow but then eventually picks up and turns into a pretty awesome trailer before the end. You can learn more about Final Fantasy Versus XIII by visiting the Official Website. The game is set for release exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
