By now the internet is swarming with lots of possible titles and gameplay possibilities that the new Super Mario 3DS is expected to offer up when it gets officially announced at this year’s E3. The preemptive announcement came at this year’s GDC from Nintendo’s own Satoru Iwata who confirmed that a new 3D Mario game was in the works that fixes that age-old 3D platforming conundrum of judging where to jump to a platform in 3D space.

The new video press conference comes courtesy of Game Trailers in which four brief screenshots of the upcoming game was shown off on stage. The entire announcement teaser for the new Mario ended with a logo containing a raccoon’s tail. Does this mean raccoon Mario could be making a return? Maybe or maybe not.

Anyway, you can look for an official announcement and some media assets to accompany the next generation handheld Mario game when E3 rolls around. Until then you can scour around Nintendo’s Official Website for hints and clues.
