Geralt Dons A Sexy Beard In The Latest Witcher 3 CG Trailer

A new cinematic trailer has leaked for The Witcher 3, courtesy of Gamechup, ahead of a countdown that CD Projekt RED has up on their website. The trailer doesn't contain in-game footage but it does showcase a bearded Geralt taking out some “monsters”.

There has been one thing that gamers have been clamoring for in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt above all else: a sexy beard for Geralt.

There were talks about petitions, people who cried in the corner of rooms and some men who went the extra mile to dye their hair white, shave it off and mail it in to CD Projekt RED in an attempt to get them to 3D laser-scan it into the game and give Geralt that manly face forest that gamers have so desperately been wanting to see on him since the first Witcher.

CD Projekt has apparently heard the pleas of gamers and took extra time and effort to flesh out the chin fuzz on Geralt's face and bloom it into a full blown white-washed jaw jungle. They've held nothing back and now gamers can bask in the glory that is Geralt's beard.

As for the trailer itself, I can imagine some pundits using it as a springboard to push an agenda, but it really does fit in well with the whole Witcher mythos of forcing Geralt to make decisions that may or may not be right. Did the woman he saved really turn out to be a cannibal and murderer? She didn't look it, but looks can be deceiving. Were those guys just grade-A douche bags and “monsters” or did Geralt jump the gun? The lines of morality are blurred through a lens that lacks facts and The Witcher series has never shied away from putting players in these kind of gray-shaded situations where it's not always about saving someone because it's “the right thing to do”.

CD Projekt RED will be using the blurred lines of morality as a continuation of the highly celebrated RPG franchise and it will be expanded well beyond the limits of the first two games in The Witcher 3.

In addition to more heart-pumping moral moments, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will sport improved and more dynamic combat. Whether or not it will appeal to the newbies or not still remains to be seen, but many veteran players are really looking forward to the more refined combat mechanics in the upcoming title.

CD Projekt RED is currently working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and they are also working on Cyberpunk 2077. Both games are set for release on the next generation home consoles and PC. Hopefully at GamesCom CD Projekt will give us a hint at some actual gameplay for The Witcher 3. I would love to see how the combat has improved since the last game.
