Remember those great, co-op arcade shooters like The Cowboys of Moo Mesa or Konami's Sunset Riders? Well Reverb Publishing wants to continue to feed the co-op genre with great games, and following up on Dungeon Defenders they have announced Majestic-12 a co-op, side-scrolling shooting game.
Ted Lange, executive producer of Reverb Publishing commented about the upcoming title from Exis Interactive, saying...
“Majestic-12 is an awesome throwback in the vein of old-school shooters like Contra, and we’re big fans of Exis’ work. They are a seasoned studio that’s worked on some amazing AAA properties such as F.E.A.R. 3 and XCOM,” ... “We can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on Majestic-12 at PAX East and to show the world what else Exis has in store in the future.”
Actually, I can't wait to get my hands on this game. It seems pretty awesome and I've always enjoyed the nostalgic feel of those old arcade titles from Data East, Konami and Capcom (back when they were making awesome stuff like The Punisher & Nick Fury or X-Men: Children of Atom and before they became synonymous with disc-locked content).
Anyways, Majestic-12 sees up to four-players battling through vicious enemies using a wide range of weapons and playing as a colorful cast of characters. It's basically a simple story of "Us vs Them" as humans retaliate against aliens using good 'ole fashioned guns, grenades and explosions that look like they've been ripped right out of a 1990s Lorenzo Lamas' flick.
The game is slated to release later this year for digital platforms on the Xbox 360 and PC. You can learn more about Majestic-12 by paying a visit to the Official Website.
