Bugs; every game is bound to have them no matter how smooth development may have gone or how meticulous developers seem to be, combing over and over to eliminate the ones they can find. And for this Uncharted 4 bug, things got pretty weird.
As reported by GameSpot, this one particular bug in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End actually removes Nathan Drake from the game. That means any situation in the game where Nathan should be standing and participating, is Nathanless. For example, in the video below, you can see the adorable scene between Elena and Nathan at the height of their home lives, enjoying some dinner and even a round of Crash Bandicoot. But the thing is, Nathan isn’t even there.
So what results is Elena looking incredibly insane, talking and canoodling with herself and an invisible friend. And don’t even get me started on the part in that video when they kiss on the couch. Now just think of every other scene in the game without Nathan and how weird it must look.
The source of the bug is unclear right now and hopefully Naughty Dog has plans to fix it, but they haven’t come out officially yet to say anything about it.
With how invested I am to the Uncharted series, I think this bug would really kill my experience with the entire game. Yes, it’s funny to see people talking to themselves and pointing and grabbing at nothing but air, but then there comes a moment when I just want to play the game how it’s meant to be played. Honestly, I’m surprised Naughty Dog hasn’t said anything about this and if they’re jumping on it to fix it, it’s been very quiet. I’m not sure how common this bug is (I’m assuming not very common because it hasn’t been made into a spectacle), but hopefully it gets resolved soon, for those who have experienced it.
