The day before the launch of Kinect, Microsoft is striking a very optimistic tone. They've raised their sales forecast for the Xbox 360 motion sensing technology.

Don Mattrick, Microsoft's President of Interactive Entertainment Business, told Bloomberg that they expect Kinect to sell five million units by the end of 2010. They had previously predicted three million. The updated forecast is based on "pre-sales, retail orders and consumer interest." Pre-orders have apparently sold out at Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.

There will be 25,000 retailers carrying the device, and 5,000 of those will be open for midnight launch. GameStop is holding a large chunk (over 2,000) of those midnight launches, as well as demo events this weekend.
