May is shaping up to be a big month for games, from the supposed Elder Scrolls MMO announcement to Capcom's Dragon's Dogma, there are plenty of big things happening, and now Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios has announced that May has become even bigger with the release date set for Mortal Kombat on the PlayStation Vita.
NetherRealm sent out word today that Mortal Kombat will be available beginning May 1st for the PS Vita. This means that you'll be able to take all those awesome bone-breaking moves and fatality-ridden fighters with you wherever you go once May rolls around.
Most notably, the game has been tailored fitted for Sony's new portable gaming device and unlike its competitor Street Fighter X Tekken they don't have a ridiculous disc-locked content agreement with Sony, which prevents console gamers from enjoying the game to its fullest. As stated in the press release...
Mortal Kombat for PlayStation Vita system provides an on-the-go fighting game experience with brand new gameplay features and tons of new content developed exclusively for the revolutionary handheld system. Mortal Kombat delivers an all-new Challenge Tower mode with 150 brand new missions, including Touchscreen Fatalities, Xrays and more.
The touchscreen fatalities are pretty awesome. Zigzagging your fingers across the screen to cut people down, eviscerate opponents, set them on fire or rip them limb from limb carries a grotesquely satisfying feeling with it, especially given how fluent the game plays and how responsive the touchscreen actions are.
