When Valve announced that Portal 2 would be coming to the PS3, they said it would be the best console version. Today they made the case by announcing the game's Steam features.
Owners of the PS3 Portal 2 will be able to play online and chat with PC and Mac owners. They will also enjoy the same cloud storage for their save files that those two platforms already possess through Steam. Additionally, anyone who buys Portal 2 for the PS3 will be able to download the PC/Mac versions for free after linking their PSN and Steam accounts.
"We designed the Portal 2 PS3 experience to be very straightforward for gamers," said Josh Weier, Portal 2 project lead. "PS3 gamers will be able to simply drop the Blu-Ray disc in the PS3, link to their Steam account from inside the game, and all their Steam friends (on PC and Mac) will be visible and accessible for chat and game invites."
Portal 2 will hit the PS3, PC, Mac, and Xbox 360 in April.
