Today Xbox 360 owners can relive the days when the Tony Hawk series was the toast of the town. Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD is available through Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

Pro Skater HD is essentially a composite remake of both Pro Skater and Pro Skater 2. Powered by Unreal Engine 3, the game provides remastered versions of levels from both games. Players will be able to tackle these courses as a mixture of both classic and modern skaters. Similarly, the soundtrack offers up songs from the original games as well as new tracks.

The long history of the Tony Hawk series provides plenty of opportunities for downloadable content. For example, the first DLC pack will feature levels from Tony Hawk 3. This content, priced at $5, should be along in a matter of weeks.

Pro Skater HD was made by Robomodo. They're the studio responsible for Tony Hawk: Ride and its follow-up Shred, the recent games featuring that terrible hoverboard peripheral. The poor reviews for those installments are what put the series in limbo until now. Hopefully this game exorcises those demons and kickstarts the dormant franchise.

The PS3 and PC will eventually get this game as well. It's currently undated on both platforms but should arrive in the summer.
