Unreal Engine 4 Helmet Demo Screenshots Look Amazing

New screenshots from an Unreal Engine 4 tech demo have “leaked” just hours before Sony's big announcement for the PlayStation 4. The screenshots are shiny and pretty and makes you want to rub your face against your monitor (but I wouldn't advice you do that because you might get permanently scarred) and you can check them out right here.
DSO Gaming spotted the new screenshots that only focus on a helmet. Now before you go “A helmet? WTF? Why should we care about a helmet?” well, the helmet looks rad and is sprinkled with a lot more detail than you might imagine a helmet to have.
I suppose the gist of the images is to showcase the various levels of detail at varying ranges. Zoomed out it doesn't look anymore impressive than a standard high-fidelity model, but up close you can see details that completely changes the viewer's perception of the character/object. The detail in the metal, the various ways in which the different aspects of the surface reflect and refract light – the scuff marks, screw indentions and the patterned, reflective visor gives gamers a good idea of how much detail next-generation games can have.
Now before we all start biting our nails about costs and expenses, just know that for top dog developer Naughty Dog, they've already said that expenses aren't expected to bloat much, if at all.
DSO grabbed the shots from Mutant Spoon, the personal website of artist Jordan Walker who tossed together the helmet in his spare time.
