The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter, Horror Game Announced

Former developers from People Can Fly, the same folks who helped port over a lot of stuff for Epic Games, have joined together to form The Astronauts, a small startup that aims to deliver modestly budgeted games with big ideas, and their first title is the PC horror title set for digital release called The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

The game’s designer, Adrian Chmielarz commented about the new IP, saying...

“What we care about the most is that the players feel like they’re really there. Immersion is our number one priority,". “It’s a game about exploration and discovery. We’re not abandoning the gameplay – on the contrary: we’re trying to strip it down to the bone and make sure it’s always meaningful and truly makes the experience better.”

You can check out the brief teaser trailer below, featuring in-engine graphics.

Not long ago we would have chalked a teaser trailer like that up to CG, but we've actually advanced to a point where small times on a modest budget can churn out CG quality game graphics. Amazing, isn't it?

Anyway, the game itself is about a cop with a paranormal gift in search of a kidnapped boy. However, as he tracks the kidnappers to a picturesque mountainous area, he finds their mutilated bodies, leading to a whole new kind of horror-themed investigation, in hopes of recovering the little boy before it's too late.

The game sounds like a mix of Medium meets Heavy Rain meets Alan Wake. Not a bad combo.

You can look for the title to launch later this year exclusively for PC. Need more info? Feel free to visit the Official Website.
