Why Does Call Of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition Have An RC Car?
The Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops comes with a very unusual item: a remote control car with a working video camera and microphone. It may seem random but it does tie into the game itself.
"We asked ourselves, what from the game would make a kick-ass Prestige item? We explored a TON of ideas, but the clear front runner was one of our new Killstreak Rewards, the RC-XD remote control car," explains Treyarch. "The in-game version allows you to remotely pilot an RC car armed with explosives and chase down enemies (one of the most satisfying Killstreak Rewards in Call of Duty to date!)."
Apparently Johnny Law frowns upon selling explosive remote control cars, though, so Treyarch opted for a camera and mike. "Again, going back to the game, we looked at how the car was used in MP, how players would find a hiding spot before remotely driving their car to run down unsuspecting enemies. We then asked ourselves – how cool would it be to run "surveillance" on unsuspecting friends and co-workers?"
Well, probably not $150 cool. But, sure, cool in the "I'm gonna use this once, realize I'm not a character in a raunchy teen comedy, and then shove it in my closet" way.
