CD Projekt Red has been benefiting greatly from the success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game has managed to move more than 4 million copies within the span of just two weeks. What's interesting is that nearly 700,000 of those purchases were made through GOG Galaxy.
Over on the official GOG.com website, they roll out some of the numerical stats for The Witcher 3 along with a brief video to hammer in the point. You can check it out below.
The video details how more than a million PC gamers have engaged and played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It details how 693,000 users have done so through GOG Galaxy, the new digital client that GOG uses to help gamers keep track of their digital library as well as offers things like achievements, game tracking and media storage.
Not only that, but if you combine the owners of The Witcher 3 across all other PC distribution platforms, it only amounts to 613,000. So GOG captures more than half of the PC gaming audience who decided to purchase their open-world RPG on PC.
The usage of GOG Galaxy for downloading and playing The Witcher 3 has resulted in more than 21.5 petabytes worth of data being moved over the course of the two weeks since the game launched.
So far, the stats have shown that the average GOG Galaxy user has put in 28 hours worth of play-time into the action-RPG, which is just around the same amount of time it took the internal tester to blast through the game on a speedrun. However, the top 1% of owners of the game have already logged more than 127 hours worth of play-time in The Witcher 3, which is kind of insane. CD Projekt Red had mentioned previously – and on multiple occasions – that you could get around 200 hours worth of gaming out of their latest RPG and it looks like they might be right about that.
In total, more than 15 million hours of play-time have been logged from all the users who logged into GOG Galaxy and decided to put some effort into playing The Witcher 3.
For those wondering, the client for Galaxy is just a few clicks away, as you can download the 60MB file and start enjoying the services of GOG's client-based rival to Steam... if you want. It's available over on the official website.
The Witcher 3 is currently enjoying the limelight right now on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The game has been receiving a lot of rave reviews for the quality experience and mature story. You can grab a copy from either local retailers or from participating digital distributors... like GOG Galaxy.
