The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt might be the one of the best-looking games of next year. A new set of screenshots give us a closer look at the impressive visuals in this PC and next-gen console RPG.

The new screenshots were revealed as part of a PC Gamer preview. In their early look at the game, they saw Geralt travel to the Castle Crach. He was summoned by the Jarl to find his wayward son. The son was last seen traveling to a forbidden island. That's Geralt's destination.

The jarl's son, it turns out, is the captive of the giant seen in one of the screenshots. Geralt predictably has to fight the clod. He'll probably be one of the less interesting bosses you'll encounter, as he's all brawn and no brains.

One of the most interesting aspects of Witcher 3 highlighted in PC Gamer's preview is the open-world exploration. Geralt doesn't need to stick to the main plot; he can pilot his ship freely throughout the world to find side quests. CD Projekt previously stated the game had a game world 20% larger than Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. What's more, they say that the game world won't be as generic as Skyrim's.

Witcher 3 will be the first game to utilize CD Projekt's REDEngine 3. It's the same technology that will be used in their sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077.
