For those of us who watched, the Academy Award Ceremony is likely still fresh in our minds, having just taken place last month, however plans for the 2013 Oscars have been announced, including the dates for the nominations and ceremony, and the location.

Nominations for the 85th Academy Awards are said to be revealed on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, according to what AFP is reporting. That’s a week ahead of when they were announced this year (January 24, 2012). As for the actual awards ceremony, it looks like they’re aiming for the same weekend as this year’s ceremony, with the 85th Academy Awards scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 24. And once again, it will take place at the Hollywood and Highland Center, formerly known as the Kodak Theater.

Per the statement released, ABC will televise the ceremony and broadcast to more than 225 countries.

We have plenty of time to speculate over who should host and which films from this year will be celebrated with nominations and awards come 2013. And hopefully by that point, those of us who haven’t seen this year’s Best Picture winner will be all caught up. On that note, Amazon has no date listed for The Artist on DVD or blu-ray, however DVDReleases.org says its expected to arrive on DVD June 2012, and HighDefDiscNews.com says April. Hopefully we’ll get an update on the status of the DVD release sometime soon.
