We all know what we're looking for in a G.I. Joe movie-- attractive badasses, giant weapons, and the sense that pretty much anything could happen at any time. With director Jon M. Chu taking over behind the scenes for the sequel to 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, he seems to be promising all of those things and more-- the "more" pretty much just meaning The Rock, who has a knack these days for joining franchises and making them better. And as he has been in pretty much all of the materials released for the film so far, The Rock is featured among the three new images released today at Russian site Kino Gallery, along with a shot of Adrienne Palicki as Lady Jaye and Elodie Yung as Jinx. Take a look at the three below, and click over there for the larger versions.
I'm not sure how many images of the Rock holding a gun they're going to show us to promote this movie, but I can't deny it's effective every time. What's more impressive here though is our first look at two of the main ladies of the story, both of them looking very strong and ready for action. Knowing pretty much nothing else about the universe of G.I. Joe I'm not sure what else to say, beyond that I'm still excited about this movie beyond all reason. I never even saw the first movie, but with Chu bringing in some fresh blood and the always-welcome presence of The Rock, G.I. Joe: Retaliation seems like it will have a lot more going for it. We'll find out for sure when the movie hits theaters on June 29 this year.
