Is Will Ferrell making an Anchorman sequel, or a follow up to his Blades of Glory comedy?
The former Saturday Night Live veteran is hard at work filming Anchorman 2 with director Adam McKay in Atlanta, leading to multiple set reports from Georgia film fans who have been able to witness some of the production work. There’s only so much that can be protected, and apparently it’s very hard to hide scenes being filmed at an outdoor skating rink in downtown Atlanta.
Access Atlanta has the scoop on the fact that Ferrell – and a stand-in stunt ice skater – shot scenes at a temporary skating rink over the weekend. Security was tight on the comedy’s set (obviously), though Access hints that photos from the Peachtree Center set might be floating around the Internet on various social-media feeds.
We don’t know a lot about the Anchorman 2 plot, so you could tell us virtually anything about the sequel and we’d have to believe it. Ice skating sequence? Sure. A side trip to New York City? You bet. Supporting roles for Kristen Wiig, John C. Reilly and Harrison Ford? Absolutely.
McKay’s going to have a tight post-production schedule, as Paramount is anxious to have the highly-anticipated sequel in theaters on Dec. 20. The entire original cast is coming back, including Steve Carell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate. Part of me wants to remain in the dark as to what Ferrell and McKay have cooked up for the second Anchorman film, but I’m sure more details will leak as the movie rolls on toward theaters.
