Ashton Kutcher's Steve Jobs Biopic Gets A Release Date

On April 19th you will have two new releases to choose from. There's the option to watch Tom Cruise roam around the deserted Earth Wall-E-style fixing drones in the Joseph Kosinski sci-fi thriller Oblivion, or you will be able to watch Ashton Kutcher found the Apple Computer Company.

After picking the movie earlier this month, the distributor has announced an official nationwide release date for the Joshua Michael Stern-directed jOBS. The film will soon premiere as the closing night movie of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, which ends this Friday. The date of the movie's release is meant to correspond with the 37th anniversary of Apple, which was founded on April 1, 1976 (which, unfortunately, is a Monday this year). Though it will face little direct competition on its new date, films including 42, Evil Dead, Scary Movie 5, The Big Wedding and Pain and Gain will all be coming to theaters the week before or after its release.

Based on a screenplay by Matthew Whiteley, the film chronicles most of Steve Jobs' life, ranging from 1971 to 2001, as he dropped out of college and grew to be one of the greatest innovators of all time. The press release announcing the new release date calls the movie a "dialogue-driven story" that serves as an "epic" as well as a "personal portrait of Steve Jobs' life." In addition to Kutcher, jOBS also stars Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons and Matthew Modine. Stay tuned here on Cinema Blend as we will surely get a trailer soon!
