Caviezel Jumps From Jesus To Terrorism

Never let it be said that there was a type cast for Mr. Jim Caviezel. When he isn't playing a wrongfully accused prisoner turned incredibly wealthy Frenchman bent on hateful justice, he's portraying the Son of God in the hours before his death. Variety reports his latest bid is to play a boat bombing terrorist. The movie is titled Deja Vu and it stars Denzel Washington.

Washington, on the other hand, seems to have a knack for the same sort of role, playing men in one sort of uniform or another bent on setting wrong things right (military, government agent, and police officer respectively in his most recently released films). He's going for a fourth such role in Deja Vu as an FBI agent whose wife was killed in the aforementioned blast. The movie will be directed by Tony Scott and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

So I hear you saying, "Wait a minute, Bruckheimer and Scott? That plot sounds too straight forward for those two. What's the catch?" Well, turns out Washington's character will have to go back in time to set things right. No word yet on whether or not a DeLorean will be invovled.

Time travel hasn't made such a good showing in films lately (Butterfly Effect, A Sound of Thunder, Timeline...do I need to go on?) and it sounds a little iffy in this one too. Terrorism is a pretty tough topic to tackle lately as well. Tony and company are treading some rather thin ice. Here's hoping they won't leaving us wishing we could go back in time to get our money back.
