Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will have their second animated feature in theaters in just a couple weeks, with The LEGO Movie set to arrive nationwide on February 7th, but it won't be too long until their second live-action film follows suit. 22 Jump Street, the filmmaker's sequel to the hilarious hit 21 Jump Street back in 2012, will be coming out this summer, and while its release date is still a bit far away that doesn't mean it's too early to appreciate this new poster, courtesy of Yahoo!
This certainly isn't the most amazing trailer we've ever seen, as the design is fairly boiler plate, but one thing I do find myself curious about is the golden guns that Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are waving around in the air. Do those become standard issue within the Metropolitan City Police Department after busting up a major drug ring? If so, then our two heroes have definitely deserved them.
We got our first look at the comedy sequel back in mid-December when both red band and green band trailers were released, and this one-sheet coming out now suggests that it probably won't be long until we get another new look at the film. Perhaps it will have a spot to run this Sunday during the big game? After all, football does play a particular role in the plot. Get a look at the new movie in the trailers below:
Picking up where the last film left off, 22 Jump Street finds Jenko (Tatum) and Schmidt (Hill) taking their brothers McQuaid act to college where they once again have to sniff out the suppliers of a popular new drug. Problems arise, however, when Jenko joins the football team and becomes friends with the college QB (Wyatt Russell) and Schmidt becomes close with the bohemian art major scene. The story was developed by Hill and Michael Bacall (same as 21 Jump Street) and the script was written by Bacall, Rodney Rothman and Oren Uziel. Ice Cube, Dave Franco, Rob Riggle, and Nick Offerman reprise their roles from the first movie, and new additions to the cast include Amber Stevens, Jillian Bell, and Peter Storemare.
22 Jump Street will be in theaters on June 13th, and for those of you who can't wait for Hill and Tatum to be back on screen together be sure to go check out The LEGO Movie as well, where they voice Green Lantern and Superman, respectively.
