"You've never seen activity like this" the poster promises, which is a bizarre claim seeing as this is the fifth film in a long-scorned spoof franchise based solely on referencing other movies. Basically, you've seen all of this activity before. But with big box office numbers on each outing, it seems Scary Movie fans don't mind that at all.
These movies just refuse to die. Even the departure of spoof queen Anna Faris can't stop them. This time around the blond at its center is Ashley Tisdale, who plays a wife and mother whose family is plagued by bizarre unexplained activity. The first trailer showed spoofs of the Paranormal Activity movies (obviously), Inception (how timely), and Black Swan (why the hell not?) But the new poster above teases allusions to newer movies like the January release Mama, last summer's R-rated comedy smash Ted, and the upcoming Evil Dead, I guess.
Funny thing, you may have actually seen a poster like this before, as there's a slightly more "mature" version floating around the web. (Seen below courtesy of /Film.) Actually, mature might be the wrong word. Let's say "grosser." There's a grosser version floating around the web complete with rotting hot girls and a ghost erection. Never in my life did I think I would require the use of that phrase.
Along with a slew of pop culture references (or rip-offs), Scary Movie V also contains a sprawling cast that includes Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Snoop Dogg, Katt Williams, Molly Shannon, Terry Crews, Simon Rex, Jerry O'Connell, Sarah Hyland, Katrina Bowden, Tyler Posey, Shad Moss (A.K.A. Bow Wow), Kate Walsh, Heather Locklear, Mac Miller and Mike Tyson. Malcolm Lee directs.
Scary Movie 5 opens April 12th.
