Dropping the Boll

I have to admit my jealousy for people who can make it to the San Diego Comic Con. It’s a yearly event that is becoming more about movies than comics... or at least the news that comes out of it is anyway.

AICN is getting wonderful bits of news from staff and readers who are in San Diego this very minute. Most of it is made up of sneak peeks at movies coming out in the future. However there is one story there I wish truly I could have been on the other side of the country to see. I wish I knew what it was like to feel the vibe and the cheers in the room when it was announced...

Uwe Boll has nothing to do with House of the Dead 2.

It’s not that I’m a huge fan of House of the Dead. I’ve actually never played the video game, and if I’ve watched the original Uwe Boll “masterpiece” it was while extremely drunk so I don’t remember it. No, my joy just comes from knowing Uwe Boll isn’t getting to make this movie, and that’s a joy that extends to any movie Uwe Boll doesn’t get to make.

Anyway, the second film will be a departure from the first movie, and will have some sort of “college romp” type opening before zombies arrive and all hell breaks loose. Who cares about all of that though. The big news: someone, somewhere finally got wise and took a movie away from Uwe Boll. That’s got to restore just a little bit of faith in Hollywood.
