Today is Mardi Gras, a.k.a. Fat Tuesday, which kicks off the season of Lent and the run-up to Easter, which is traditionally the day that marks the arrival of spring and the end of a dull, gray winter. But we've got 40 days of Lent to get through before that happens, and it's going to take a lot more than a single day of Mardi Gras to survive it. You know what you need as winter drags itself to a close? A movie with a bunch of movie stars in a warm location, falling in love and pulling off something miraculous.

Doesn't sound too bad, right? In Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Ewan McGregor plays a fly-fishing expert who's charged with helping a wealthy sheikh to introduce, well, salmon fishing to the Middle Eastern country of Yemen. Emily Blunt plays a woman who helps him, and Kristin Scott Thomas brings some of her gravitas as a newspaper editor who winds up covering the feel-good story. But don't let me tell you about that-- check it all out in the exclusive, brand-new 30 second trailer for the film, which we're premiering today.

If you want to learn more about the movie, you can also check out the full trailer, embedded below. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is directed by Lasse Hallstrom, who made high-quality, glossy dramas like The Cider House Rules and Chocolat-- clearly we have every reason to expect the same from this one. The movie opens in limited release on March 9.
