Fan Made X-Men: First Class Trailer Sets The Right Tone

It’ll be months before we see the first X-Men: First Class trailer. The movie, which is a prequel to the 2000 X-Men film, is currently shooting with James McAvoy as a young Professor Xavier and Michael Fassbender as a young Magneto. But if they’re looking for a template on how to do the movie’s first trailer right, one fan has a suggestion.

The following video is a fan made trailer for X-Men: First Class which, while a little rough around the edges, captures the tone that any successful X-Men film should seek to strike. It returns to drawing comparisons between the struggles of mutants and real world events, and it uses Patrick Stewart narration, couched as if he’s telling the story of his past to give the whole series continuity. Somehow I doubt the actual film will go this direction, director Matthew Vaughn seems like the type to go his own way rather than connect his movie to the work of others, but for me this is the ideal way to handle the whole thing.

I particularly liked the way the managed to work in Kevin Bacon. He’ll be the bad guy in First Class, a mutant leader named Sebastian Shaw with the ability to absorb kinetic energy and transform it into strength. A lot of what I’m hoping for in the new X-Men movie is here, let me know whether it worked for you in the comments section below.
