Gurinder Chadha Has Murder On Her Mind

Meddling mothers make for good comedy pretty much everywhere, whether it's My Big Fat Greek Wedding here or Bend it Like Beckham in the U.K. Now those two popular chick flicks are joining forces with something totally unexpected that might make them even better-- ZOMBIES.

Gurinder Chadha, who directed Beckham as well as Bride and Prejudice, will direct, produce and co-write It's A Wonderful Afterlife, according to Variety. It's unclear exactly how the zombies work their way into the story about a British-Asian mother who is obsessed with getting her daughter married off, but the story eventually "comically leads to serial murder." OK, maybe zombies aren't involved, but doesn't that word Afterlife in the title suggest something undead?

Chadha explains a little of what she's thinking to Variety, saying "It's a return for me to the characters and setting of 'Bend It Like Beckham' but in a different genre, namely horror, although I would say that the gore will be easy on the eye." Sounds like a horror movie that for a wimp like me, who is also a little to embarrassed to admit how much she enjoyed Bend it Like Beckham.
