Has Ralph Fiennes Role In Skyfall Been Revealed?

Despite the fact that Ralph Fiennes has been confirmed to play a role in the next James Bond film, Skyfall, for months now, one question that has remained is what role he will be playing. In a recent interview with the Daily Record, the actor said that he will be playing a government agent, but that's not really helpful considering that practically everyone but the villain in Bond films works for the government. Now a source over a MovieWeb is suggesting that the role Fiennes could be playing would be much bigger than any simple "government agent."
*POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED*
The unnamed source, who apparently works for EON Productions (the company behind Bond films) says that Fiennes will be playing a character that comes in to replace Judi Dench as M. If true, this could mean that Skyfall will be the final 007 movie that Dench does. She has played M a total of six times, dating back to 1995's GoldenEye. This news would give good reason to why we have yet to learn Fiennes' character's real name.
As previously reported, the plot involves the trust between James Bond (Daniel Craig) and M being breached as MI6 comes under attack. Directed by Sam Mendes, the film also Javier Bardem, Albert Finney, Helen McCrory, Naomie Harris, Bérénice Marlohe and Ben Whishaw.
