Hilary Duff Stays Cool

I have to admit, my thumb is not firmly planted on the pulse of pop culture as I might like to think it is. For instance, is Hilary Duff considered “in” anymore in the current Hannah Montana world? I know she’s been moving outside of her safety zone with appearances with films like War, Inc, but do kids consider her cool anymore? Because like it or not, Duff is about to be cool again… in a matter of speaking.

Duff is the latest name to join the Polish Brothers new comedy Stay Cool, reports HR. This is actually a pretty fitting project for someone in that pop culture limbo Duff seems to be in these days. She’ll star alongside other formerly “in” names like Winona Ryder, Sean Astin, Chevy Chase, and Jon Cryer.

The movie stars Mark Polish as a successful author who returns home to deliver a graduation commencement address to a graduating class that includes Duff as a senior who flirts with the author. The author finds himself having to confront his high school crush, played by Ryder. Overall it’s described as a “knowing-your-age comedy.” I have to admit I like the sound of that theme, and it certainly sounds appropriate for all involved, including the 21-year-old Duff playing a high school student.
