Dax Shepard and David Palmer, the same duo behind the 2010 comedy Brother's Justice, are back with Hit and Run. This time Shepard, who writes and co-drects with Palmer, has brought his real-life partner, Kristen Bell, along for the ride. The action comedy from Open Road features the Bell and Shepard playing a couple on the run from some some shady characters including a ridiculous looking Bradley Cooper.

Shepard plays Charlie Bronson, a former getaway driver forced into witness relocation after a heist gone wrong. In his new life he meets and falls in love with Bell but doesn't tell her about his history of violence - sorry - crime. And cue the return of his former gang, led by the dread-ed Cooper, looking for their stolen loot. We've already had our first look atHit and Run but now they've released a red band trailer for the R-rated comedy. (NSFW)

Wow. They really ran that 'butt-fucked' joke into the ground, didn't they? It felt like the entire second half of the trailer was Shepard and Cooper verbally sparring about the race of his prison rapist. So much time was spent on the one gag that we barely got to see the rest of what is actually a great cast that includes Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Arnold, Ryan Hansen and David Koechner. I'm still hoping for the breakout R-rated comedy of the summer - Ted? The Watch? The Candidate? - but it's hard to imagine that anything will top 21 Jump Street in 2012. What do you think? Does Hit and Run look funny to you?

Hit and Run hits theaters August 24, 2012. More on the film can be found in our Blend Film Database.
