The Human Torch Has Been Offered Captain America
Chris Evans, long rumored to be a top contender for the lead role in Marvel’s upcoming Captain America movie, has won the role… if he wants it. THR says he’s been offered the part.
If true, Marvel’s offer to Evans would be a multi-picture deal. He’d be committed for at least three Captain America movie as well as appearances in other Avengers, superhero team-up movies in which Cap is likely to figure prominently.
There could be a problem though. Evans is already committed to an Anna Faris rom-com called What’s Your Number?, scheduled to shoot around the same time. Seriously though, if the guy has any sense, he’ll drop that and go with the First Avenger.
This would be Chris Evans’ second turn playing a superhero. He’s already done two movies as the Human Torch, another Marvel Comics character and member of the Fantastic Four. Captain America is an entirely different ball of wax from the Torch who’s sort of a wild, irresponsible ladies man. America is a more serious, honor and duty driven character. Still, Evans should be a perfect fit. He’s a proven talent as an actor and he’s got the all-American good looks necessary to play Steve Rogers and his alter-ego Captain America. This could work.
