Pacific Rim is easily one of the most anticipated blockbusters of next summer. While the fact that it's about giant robots doing battle with giant monsters is cool enough, the fact that it's being brought to us by Guillermo del Toro, the director of the Hellboy movies and Pan's Labyrinth, makes it a must see. The trailer that Warner Bros. put out earlier this month was action packed and awesome, and now the studio has delivered a brand new still as well.
The shot comes to us from The Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide (via Coming Soon) and gives us a new look at the characters played by Rinko Kikuchi and Idris Elba. The latter was previously shown off in images without his gear on, shaking hands with Charlie Hunnam in this picture, but this is the first time we've seen Kikuchi wearing something other than her piloting suit. Take a look at the still below and head over to the source to see it in super high-res (seriously, you can practically read the security badge on her belt).
Based on an original script by Travis Beacham, Pacific Rimis set in a distant future when a dimensional rip has opened in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and begun releasing all kinds of hellish monsters called Kaiju. In order to protect themselves, the nations of the world team up to construct giant mechanical suits called Jaegers to help take the beasts down and save planet Earth. In addition to the three stars mentioned above, Ron Perlman, Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr. and Burn Gorman all play roles. Head over to our Blend Film Database to see the first trailer as well as others stills, posters, and more.
