International Ghost Rider Trailer

I always wonder about international trailers. I mean, aside from the obvious (language barriers, religious conservatism, the French) what do they actually do to make themselves "international"? I would love to sit in on a production meeting for one of these things and find out exactly why Europeans need those extra thousandths of a second added to every other shot and how it helps to change some of the music to appeal to overseas audiences. Sigh...

Anywho, Sony have put their thinking caps on and added a few new shots for an international Ghost Rider trailer. As underwhelmed as I am by the prospect of Nic Cage taking out his unfulfilled Clark Kent ambitions on such a potentially cool character as Marvel's Ghost Rider, I still can't help but watch slack-jawed as the unassailably cool Sam Elliott does his thing. I'd pay to watch that guy count matchsticks for two hours.

In between those bats of cooldom however, I don't think I can stand another moment of Cage's failed attempts to "emote". Every one of his faces look like a horse trying to do long division, and why, oh why does he insist that it's cool to talk like your teeth are glued together?

Still, I guess this film could pull off an upset considering how much we haven't seen. Make your own mind up and watch the new trailer in various formats here.
