Next week fans will have a chance to get their first look at Dredd, the new comic book movie directed by Pete Travis and written by Alex Garland. During Preview Night at the San Diego Comic Con, which is next Wednesday, the Reading Cinemas Gaslamp will be filled to the brim with Judge Dredd fans as the entire film will be shown. Those who can't make it down to southern California that night will have to wait a couple of months before their chance, as the movie won't released until September 21st, but we do have something for you: a brand new motion poster.

Giant Freakin Robot has gotten their hands on the new artwork (sorry about the auto-play), which features a very angry Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) sentencing us to death before blowing us away with his gun. Just what I was hoping for on Independence Day! Click on the poster below to see it play over at the source.

Based on the comics by Carlos Ezquerra and John Wagner, Dredd is set in a dystopian future where the laws are enforced by an elite group of police officers who have the power to serve as judge, jury and executioner for crimes. The story follows Judge Dredd as he is paired up with a new recruit named Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) and goes on the hunt for the source of a new drug called SLO-MO.
