Malick Finds Tree Of Life

Die hard Terrence Malick fans (all seven of you) rejoice! Your man seems to be back in the directorial saddle. According to The Hollywood Reporter Mallick, who is currently wrapping work on his upcoming Pocahontas flick The New World, is interested in writing and directing a movie entitled Tree of Life.

It's interesting to see Malick already signing up for another film since his past work is sparse and spread out. He wrote and directed two movies in the seventies, Badlands and Days of Heaven and did a little writing on the side as well. Then he all but disappeared for nearly two decades finally returning in 1998 to head up The Thin Red Line. Malick has been producing some projects since then, but The New World is his first directing project since Thin Red Line. Tree of Life may indicate a change of pace for the 61 year old movie maker.

So, what is Tree of Life all about? No story has as yet been revealed. However, Colin Farrell seemed to have enjoyed himself so much working on The New World that there's word his may sign on for Tree of Life. Perhaps its a story about Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. We all know how much Colin loves acting in the nude.

The movie may only have a general concept, but preproduction is supposed to begin next January.
