McG meets McGee

Boo

Usually when McG’s name comes up in a news story, the staff at CinemaBlend cringes. But add two extra “e”s to the end of that, and that horror changes to intrigue.

McG’s production company Wonderland Sound & Vision has teamed up with Endgame Entertainment to produce a horror film titled Stay Alive. The film takes advantage of the current trend of online videogames with a plot that matches players with their online counterparts through more than just the keyboard - when characters die online, the players also die.

The videogame effects for Stay Alive will be handled by American McGee, who has created the impressive (if not dark and twisted) video game based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

As always, I’m wary when McG’s name is attached to a project (the former music video director was behind both Charlie’s Angel films), however the inclusion of American McGee for the effects seems interesting enough. Based on the storyline though, I’d be surprised if this ends up as anything better than direct to video.
