Right now everyone loves Michael Shannon, the intense, super-tall Chicagoan who terrified us all (or at least, the few of us who saw it) in Revolutionary Road. But if he participates in the continuing career of Kristen Stewart, will we all still be on his side?

Hey, I know the man has to make a living. But I really can't figure out his motivation for wanting to take part in The Runaways, the biopic about the first all-female rock group that will star Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as bandmate Cherie Curry. According to THR Shannon is considering a multitude of male roles in the film, though my guess is none of them will be romantic-- Dakota Fanning is a brave actress, but I don't think even she can pull off a relationship with a 35-year-old.

Honestly, Shannon doesn't seem like the kind of guy to just chase film roles for the glory of it all, so there's probably a value in this project that we can't see from the outside. It'll be interesting to see what role he takes, and then how Kristen Stewart's mumble/hair-flipping style of acting comes up against Shannon, who actually, you know, acts.
