Paramount Picks Up Another Romantic Drama For The Like Crazy Filmmakers

Paramount Pictures made one of the biggest acquisitions of this year's Sundance Film Festival when they acquired the romance Like Crazy, a small-scale drama starring Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones that eventually went on to win the Grand Jury Prize. Paramount paid $4 million for the film by director Drake Doremus, which already seemed like a pretty significant commitment, but now the studio seems to have invested even more in Doremus and his partners.

According to The LA Times, Paramount and Montecito Pictures have acquired the rights to the novel Through to You, described by the paper as "a youth-themed science fiction romance." Doremus would direct the film, telling the story of a teenager who discovers a world in which his deceased girlfriend still lives. Ben York Jones would write the screenplay and Jonathan Schwartz would produce, the same roles they had on Like Crazy. With that film set to come out in theaters later this year, it's clear that Paramount thinks they've got a hit on their hands, and wants to keep Doremus, York and Schwartz in the fold. Given the insane response to Like Crazy at Sundance, they're probably right.
