Director James Wan is a tremendously busy man. He's currently in development on Fast & Furious 7, which is going to start production this summer, but also has two films ready for release later this year. Over the past few weeks we've seen plenty of advertising for The Conjuring, which will be in theaters on July 19th, however, Insidious Chapter 2 has been properly kept in the dark, not scheduled to hit theaters until mid-September. Well, today it takes a step out of the shadows, as Apple has debuted the movie's first trailer.
This may be the first preview we've seen from the movie, but recently we here at Cinema Blend have been learning plenty about it. Last week our own Mack Rawden wrote about his experiences visiting the incredibly creepy Linda Vista Community Hospital to spend time watching the movie be filmed, and just this morning Kristy Puchko had the chance to sit in on a conversation with the director about the sequel.
Picking up where the last film left off, the new movie finds the Lambert family (Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins and Barbara Hershey) in a new home trying to get over the horrific events they experienced. Unfortunately for them, it doesn't take long before the haunting spirits return to reek more hell. Leigh Whannell, who wrote the screenplay, returns as Specs, and Lin Shaye returns as Elise Rainier, and the rest of the supporting cast includes Michael Beach and Danielle Bisutti. FilmDistrict will have Insidious Chapter 2 in theaters on September 13th.
