Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 Hires A French Mermaid

They’ve had walking skeletons, Davy Jones, and a kraken. It was only a matter of time before a mermaid showed up somewhere in the Pirates of the Caribbean mythology. You’ll see one in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and she’ll be played by Astrid Berges-Frisbe, according to Variety.
So who is Astrid Berges-Frisbey and what qualifies her to play a mermaid, beyond the fact that her name makes it sound like she actually is one? Well she’s a French actress and she’s been in two or three French films and word is she’s pretty in demand overseas. More importantly for audiences who’ve had their brains dulled by overuse of CGI, her heritage means she’ll have an awesome mermaid accent… well it’ll be a French accent but we’re Americans so we won’t know the difference. It’ll sound foreigny and kind of uncomfortably sexy, which is all you can really hope for in a mermaid accent. She’s also beautiful, another mermaid prerequisite, though there’s no telling how the bottom half of her will hold up once it’s covered in scales. It probably doesn’t matter. When it comes to mermaids it’s the top half we all like to think about. The less said about what’s going on down below the better.
