Michael Bay's Pain and Gain won't be out until April of next year, but apparently the marketing push has already begun. The film is a big experiment for the director as it's been described as Coen brothers-esque dark crime comedy, which should be very different than what we usually expect from a Michael Bay movie (Read: explosions and mayhem). And even the marketing materials are different. Whereas most posters for Bay movies are filled with super star A-list actors not looking back at the bomb they just set off, the teaser poster for Pain & Gain is just a simple bottle of protein powder.
In conjunction with the announcement from earlier today that the movie would be out on April 26, 2013, Paramount Pictures has released the first teaser poster for Pain & Gain. You can check it out below and click on it to see it in high res.
Based on a true story, the film follows the adventures of Daniel Lugo (Mark Wahlberg) and Paul Doyle (Dwayne Johnson), two muscleheaded bodybuilders living in Miami. The plot kicks off when the two of them develop a plan to kidnap and extort a local businessman as a means of making a quick buck, but the plan goes horriibly wrong and they find themselves in serious trouble. Ed Harris, Anthony Mackie, Ken Jeong, Rob Corddry, Rebel Wilson, Tony Shalhoub and Michael Rispoli co-star in the movie, which is based on a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Scott Rosenberg.
