Robot Chicken Spawns Stop-Motion Movies

The creator's of the Cartoon Network's stop-motion series "Robot Chicken", Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, have signed a deal with Dimension Films to bring their stop and start style to movies. The Hollywood Reporter says they've signed a two-picture deal with the Weinstein spawned company, and the first of those two pictures will be a stop-motion holiday celebration.

The movie's being called Naughty or Nice, and Senreich is writing and co-directing with Geoff Johns. That doesn't mean Seth Green plans to sit around on his hands and lend his name to the project. He'll direct the film's voice-overs and do at least one of the voices himself.

If you've seen "Robot Chicken" then you're probably wondering how the hell they'll turn a bunch of shorts into a legitimate feature film. The answer is: damned if I know. Stop motion is a lot of fun, but an entire movie of it? I think I'd rather go rent old BetaMax versions of Gumby.
