Saw IV Gets A Date

With the kind of business the Saw movies have been performing at the box office, a fourth film was almost a given. Now it’s also official.

The Hollywood Reporter says Saw IV is being fast tracked into production by Lionsgate, and they’ll start work on it April 16 in Toronto. Back in the director’s chair will be Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed both Saw II, and Saw III. Though Bousman wasn’t there for the first movie when the whole Saw thing kicked off, his two sequels have both surpassed the original both in critical acclaim and in sheer ticket sales.

This third sequel will continue the one Saw movie every Halloween trend the franchise has been following. Right now it’s slated for an October 26 release. Bousman says Saw IV will delve even deeper into the Jigsaw legend, and rumor has it that in the process he’ll answer a lot of the question, both big and small, raised by Saw III.
