Star Wars 7 Might Include This Cool Nod To Han Solo's Past

The last time that Han Solo dressed as a Stormtrooper, things didn't exactly go super well. Sure, he was able to sneak into the Death Star alongside Luke, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2, but the end result involved him getting shot at, getting stuck in a disgusting garbage compactor and almost crushed to death, getting shot at again, and then running for his life. One would understand why the rogue smuggler would never want to dress in Imperial armor again, but that won't stop it from happening in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, if new rumors are to be believed.

TheForce.net has purged a bunch of tiny little rumors about next chapter in the legendary sci-fi saga, but the one that really caught our eye points to what may be a funny little reference to the events in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. According to one of the site's unnamed sources, the upcoming J.J. Abrams' film will feature a sequence where Han Solo is forced to disguise himself as a Stormtrooper.

Star Wars Han Solo Stormtrooper

Of course, if previous reports can be believed, Han Solo probably won't be wearing Stormtrooper armor that looks like what you see in the above picture. Instead, leaked concept art has suggested that the Stormtroopers of Star Wars: Episode VII will be much sleeker and scarier looking - plus it looks like the standard white is going to be replaced by chrome. While this sounds like a nice update to the uniforms, I wonder if the Empire would have been better off investing in target practice ranges that teach the soldiers how to actually shoot straight.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it could be a cute little bit of fan service, but at the same time I really hope it's one of very few moments that can be described that way. While I fully understand that people love the history of the franchise, it was that love that wound up getting abused to a point of ridiculousness in the prequel trilogy. A series can't move forward if it is just constantly looking backwards, and this is a series I would really love to see move forward in a meaningful and new way.

The answer to whether or not this rumor is true is still probably months and months away, as Star Wars: Episode VII is still in production at Pinewood Studios in England, and we won't be getting to see the finished cut until December 17, 2015. That being said, do you guys want to see Han back in Stormtrooper armor?
