The internet has been ablaze ever since the initial announcement dropped of a Force Awakens teaser trailer being released in select theaters on Thanksgiving Day, and the subsequent release of the participating theaters. Well, it seems things are only going to get crazier in the world of Star Wars teaser trailers. In addition to seeing some familiar faces, it looks like we might be getting more than one teaser trailer this Thanksgiving Day.

Comicbook.com reports that there actually may be three variants of the teaser that will be released along with the main teaser we were already promised. Two of the variants are rumored to be around 88 seconds long, and will be randomly distributed among the theaters already planning to show the Star Wars teaser. So if this rumor does prove true, it seems it will be the luck of the draw which theaters play the variant trailer.

Not planning to see a movie on Thanksgiving Day? Then this might get you interested: the third variant is rumored to be 60 seconds, and would air on television during an NFL game. None of this is confirmed, and the game during which this teaser would air hasn’t been named either. There will be three NFL games airing on Thanksgiving day, but it seems most likely for the teaser to air during the prime-time game at 8:30 pm, between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.

Star Wars Cast

This is an interesting new development, especially given the fact that the Jurassic World trailer, which was supposed to premiere on Thanksgiving Day, was bumped to Tuesday. Maybe it was bumped to make room for a bigger premiere? Gary Whitta, the director of the untitled Star Wars spinoff, seems to think so.

The variant teasers have not been officially confirmed yet, but if this rumor turns out to be true, this could be a pretty exciting marketing scheme to get audiences excited for The Force Awakens. As someone who doesn’t have a local theater planning to air the Star Wars teaser, I’m pretty excited at the prospect of a teaser trailer airing on network television. Even better, the trailer or trailers will be released tomorrow, so we don’t have to wait too long to separate Force Awakens teaser release fact from fiction.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to release in December of 2015, and Gary Whitta’s Star Wars spin-off does not yet have a release date, though it is rumored to be centered around a high-stakes heist. Variant trailer releases or not, the main Force Awakens teaser trailer will be airing in Regal and Edwards Cinemas all over the country tomorrow.
