Stevenson Is The New Punisher

If Seth Rogen penning and starring in The Green Hornet isn’t enough to make you question the future of the superhero genre, rumors about the next next Punisher are beginning to fly. That’s right, apparently, the failing IP will continue with another installment. Thomas Jane has wisely refused to have anything to do with it, so this time Ray Stevenson will be dueling out the pain as the titular hero reports The Latino Review.

For my part, I’m a Dolph Lundgren fan, who starred in the 1989 The Punisher. From He-Man to a nameless solider, Lundgren knows how to lay the smack down. Lundgren also represents the fourth-rate nature of “The Punisher;” something 2004’s Thomas Jane couldn't understand, as he played it straight. Now, Stevenson (star of HBO’s “Rome”) will have his turn to bury his career, as the Punisher is expect to face off against Jigsaw. No, not Saw’s Jigsaw, The Punisher has a nemesis of the same name. But if The Punisher did face off against the most notorious of “torture-porn” indulgers, I would be tempted to buy a ticket. The only thing missing from superhero genre these days are some wacky cross-overs.
