Sundance Film Festival Gears Up

Tomorrow is a big day for Cinema Blend. It marks the beginning of the first time we’ve covered the Sundance Film Festival. Come on, you know Sundance. It’s the one for people who can’t afford to go to Cannes. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that until after we pick up our press credentials. Whoops.

Assuming I haven’t just screwed us, by Thursday night the CB festival team will be putting boots to snow as we pound our way through Park City, Utah looking longingly through windows at exciting parties we’re not invited to while we stumble down the street to the next movie we’ll be seeing and reporting back on for all of you. Unless we're lured into a bar by our friends over at FirstShowing.net, expect a bleary eyed retelling of our first encounters Thursday before midnight.

So think of this as a warning: You’re about to get deluged with all kinds of festival goodness. To help you sort through the mess, we’ve set up a dedicated film festival channel for you right here, which can also be accessed via the pulldown on the site’s top menu on every page of the site. Here’s a hint: You’ll want to click where it says “Sundance”. Hope that helps.

We have big plans for what we’ll be covering. In addition to reviews of movies like Choke, Sunshine Cleaning, and Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden we’re cooking up interviews with the likes of Emily Blunt, Colin Ferrell, and anyone else who will put up with us long enough to talk to us. Today though Steve, Kelly, Leanne, and I will be busy packing, which means we’d like a little help from all of you.

Here’s the question: What would you like to see us covering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival? Hey, we’re more than happy to simply please ourselves, but we’re giving you a chance to help chart our direction. Use the comments section, our message board, or heck grab our emails off the site’s staff page and tell us which movies you’d most like to hear about from us. If it’s one of the most requested, and we can fit it in, we’ll nail it. Not literally of course, I’m not sure how you’d even hump a press screening, and I’m pretty sure Park City has a police force for just that sort of thing. Shady bunch the press.

To help you figure out where to point us, check out the full list of movies playing at Sundance on their festival site via our quick guide here. Browse and if you see something you want us inserted into, well come back here and you know what to do.
