When I was a kid and beginning my life-long love of Star Wars I had a big book that had images and blueprints for every vehicle in George Lucas' universe. I would spend hours and hours leafing through it, looking at the engines of A-Wings and the outlay of the cabin in the Slave 1. It excited me because while I knew it was all fictional, I loved the idea that there were people out there who obsessed over the same kind of details. Now we're learning that when Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises comes out this summer it will come with its own companion guide to the Batman universe.
SuperHeroHype has learned of a book in development titled The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles & Documents From The Batcave. Written by Brandon T. Snider, the book takes an extremely close look at the world of the Nolan Batman Universe. While its available for pre-order now on Amazon, SHH has received an early copy which includes some brand new images of The Bat, the flying vehicle that we will see for the first time this summer. Take a look at two of the images below and head over to the source to see the rest.
I really love that second image and captions like "Two-person cockpit design gives pilots maximum control." Hopefully this is just a tease of what the full book has in store. If so it could be really worth the money. The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20th and stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Juno Temple and Josh Pence.
